Ho Chi Minh City welcomed an estimated 6.4 million international visitors in the first half of 2026, a 48.5% increase from a year earlier, according to the city's Department of Tourism.
The figure represents 58.1% of the city's full-year target, underscoring a strong recovery in inbound tourism. In June alone, the city received about 806,000 foreign arrivals.
Tourism revenue also surged, fueled by the rebound in international travel and higher visitor spending. The city's tourism sector generated an estimated VND20.98 trillion ($800 million) in June, bringing total revenue for the first six months of the year to VND213.98 trillion ($8.1 billion), up 63.9% year-on-year.
The six-month revenue has already reached 64.8% of the city's annual target of VND330 trillion, reinforcing Ho Chi Minh City's position as one of Vietnam's leading tourism hubs, particularly for international visitors.
Officials attributed the robust growth to effective tourism promotion campaigns and continued efforts to diversify tourism products and experiences.
The city has also begun to capitalize on its expanded tourism appeal following its administrative merger with the neighboring former provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria–Vung Tau one year ago. The enlarged metropolis now offers a broader mix of urban attractions, beaches, nature-based experiences and resort destinations, creating a more diverse destination for domestic and international travelers.
