Central Nghe An province recorded strong economic growth in the first seven months of 2026, with newly registered and additional investment capital exceeding VND 84.36 trillion ($3.2 billion), up more than fivefold from the same period last year, according to the provincial Department of Finance.

During the period, the province approved 44 new projects and adjusted 101 existing ones. Of this, newly registered and adjusted foreign direct investment (FDI) capital reached $2.43 billion.

The industrial sector remains a key growth driver. The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in July was estimated to rise 21.74% year-on-year, with manufacturing and processing increasing 25.24%.

Trade, services and tourism also showed positive momentum. Retail sales of goods and consumer services exceeded VND 17.18 trillion in July, up 14.63% year-on-year.

In the first seven months, Nghe An welcomed more than 8.2 million visitors, supporting the continued recovery of the local tourism sector.

The province's business and investment environment also continued to improve. During the period, 2,024 new businesses were established, up 21.27% year-on-year, while 710 businesses resumed operations, an increase of nearly 31%.
