The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has submitted a report to the Ministry of Construction regarding incidents involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other flying objects near Noi Bai and Cat Bi International Airports.

According to the report, on June 6 and 7, authorities detected three flying objects suspected to be drones or other aerial devices operating near the two airports.

At Noi Bai International Airport, drone activity on June 6 disrupted a total of 28 flights. Specifically, eight departing flights were forced to wait at the runway holding points, while 20 inbound flights were required to perform aerial holding patterns.

On June 7, a kite-flying incident within the takeoff zone caused further delays for seven flights preparing for departure.

At Cat Bi International Airport, three flights were affected by unauthorized flying objects. These included one departing flight that was delayed and two arriving flights that had to be diverted to alternate airports.

While all situations were handled promptly, the CAAV warned that the risk of recurrence remains high, particularly during the peak summer season when kite flying and the use of civilian drones tend to increase.

The regulatory body emphasized that such incidents not only disrupt airline operations but also pose a serious threat to aviation safety, especially if these objects enter aircraft approach, takeoff, or landing paths.
