A groundbreaking ceremony was held on October 30 for the U Bo Mountain–Thac Chuoi Lake Ecotourism, Resort and Entertainment Complex in central Quang Tri province.

The project has a total investment of  more than VND16.2 trillion  (nearly $613 million) and covers approximately 167.5 hectares across Bo Trach, Thuong Trach and Truong Son communes.

Under the master plan, the complex will comprise two main development zones around Thac Chuoi Lake and the summit of U Bo Mountain. The two areas will be connected by a network of five cable car routes, allowing visitors to travel from the lakeside to the mountain summit, which stands approximately 1,009 meters above the sea level.

Key facilities will include hotels, resort villas, pedestrian streets, commercial and service areas, dining and entertainment venues, premium accommodation, observation decks and a mountain railway.

The project will be developed in four phases, with implementation scheduled to continue until the second quarter of 2037. Some infrastructure facilities and the first cable car routes are expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2028.

Once fully operational, the complex is expected to welcome approximately five million visitors annually and create around 3,000 direct jobs. It is also expected to stimulate local commerce and services while increasing demand for locally produced goods.
