The national railway network currently totals 3,143 km in length, and to reach 4,900 km under planning for the 2021-2030 period and to promote its superiority as a mode of transport, a series of breakthrough mechanisms for national railway construction have been proposed by the Department of Railways, such as local decentralization and reserving of land for urban development.
