Authorities of northern Hai Phong port city on July 30 granted investment registration certificates to 13 projects and signed two investment cooperation memoranda with investors that plan to develop industrial parks, with total committed and proposed capital of about $3.2 billion.
Among the newly licensed projects, LG Innotek Vietnam’s $1 billion semiconductor manufacturing plant at the Free Trade Zone subdivision in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park (Zone 2) is considered particularly significant. The project is expected not only to reinforce LG Innotek’s pioneering position in Vietnam’s semiconductor industry but also to elevate Hai Phong’s high-tech industrial ecosystem.
According to official statistics, Hai Phong attracted an estimated $3.26 billion in foreign direct investment in the first seven months of 2026, up 71.8% from the same period last year.
As of July 2026, Hai Phong was home to 1,868 valid FDI projects from 41 countries and territories, with total registered capital of approximately $54 billion.
