Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has appointed as new Chief Trade Negotiator of Vietnam, the Government News reported on June 26.
Mr. Le Manh Hung will be assisted by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Quoc Phuong, and Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang as Deputy Trade Negotiators.
With this role, Minister Le Manh Hung will lead the Government Negotiation Delegation for international economic and trade affairs.
The Government Negotiation Delegation shall assist the Prime Minister in directing ministries, agencies, and localities in negotiating, signing, and implementing international economic and trade treaties and agreements.
The Delegation shall also advise the Prime Minister on formulating overall strategies, plans and roadmaps for joining international economic and trade treaties and agreements in line with national interests and Vietnam's socio-economic development priorities.
It will also coordinate with ministries and agencies in implementing Vietnam's commitments under international trade frameworks and take part in negotiations to expand or upgrade agreements involving Vietnam, including those under the World Trade Organization, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, Asia-Europe Meeting, Association of Southeast Asian Nations and bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements.
