The Ministry of Construction (MoC) has issued a document requesting the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) and Vietnam Airlines to urgently implement measures related to the incident involving flight VN34, which occurred on August 15 at Munich International Airport, Germany.

Accordingly, the CAAV must immediately establish official communication channels and coordinate with aircraft accident investigation authorities and relevant agencies to gather information and participate in the investigation as prescribed.

The CAAV is also required to strengthen safety oversight regarding aviation personnel training, flight operations, and aircraft maintenance for all Vietnamese airlines. The agency must provide objective, comprehensive, and timely information regarding the incident to prevent false rumors that could cause public concern.

The MoC requested that the CAAV promptly report the findings of the German investigation authorities, as well as the corrective and preventive measures taken following the incident.

Regarding Vietnam Airlines, the ministry required the carrier to cooperate closely with German authorities, aircraft manufacturers, and engine manufacturers to serve the investigation and clarify the cause of the incident.

The airline must simultaneously review all aviation personnel training, operational, and maintenance processes, while strictly fulfilling the carrier's obligations toward affected passengers.

According to Vietnam Airlines, flight VN34 was scheduled to operate from Munich to Noi Bai (Hanoi), taking off at 1:57pm local time on August 15.

After takeoff, the aircraft issued warnings regarding a potential tail strike on the runway and tire pressure issues. The flight crew notified Air Traffic Control (ATC) and decided to return to Munich International Airport for a technical inspection.

After landing, the crew coordinated with ATC and ground staff to disembark all passengers via mobile stairs and move them safely into the terminal. The aircraft was then towed to a parking bay for inspection, evaluation, and investigation.

There were 271 passengers and 16 crew members on board. Everyone is safe, and no injuries were reported.

According to Annex 13 of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation, the German investigation authority is the body responsible for investigating the cause of the incident occurring in Munich.
