The five new urban railway projects have a total length of more than 300 kilometers and investment capital preliminarily estimated at over VND1.3 quadrillion (around $52 billion).
Attending the event on September 29, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highlighted the strategic importance of the projected Hanoi - Hoa Binh - Son La - Dien Bien expressway, including the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau project.
Northern Nam Dinh province held a breaking ground ceremony on April 25 for the second phase of a project to build a development trunk road connecting the province’s marine economic region with the Cau Gie-Ninh Binh Highway, which is a section of the North-South Expressway. The project has a total length of 46 km and investment of nearly VND2.5 trillion ($109.48 million), and is expected to be completed in 2025.
Lao Cai province held a breaking ground ceremony on March 3 for the Sa Pa Airport project, with total investment of nearly VND7 trillion ($306.42 million). It will be the largest airport in the northwest, with a capacity of 3 million passengers a year, and will accelerate socio-economic development in Lao Cai and the northwest and northern mountainous region.
