Vietnam's seafood exports maintained strong growth in the first half of 2026, driven by recovering global demand, product diversification and expanding market opportunities, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Export turnover reached nearly $1.1 billion in June, up 21% from a year earlier, bringing total seafood exports in the first six months of the year to almost $5.8 billion, an increase of 12.8% year-on-year.
Shrimp remained Vietnam's leading seafood export, with June export value totaling $445.9 million, up 20.7%, and first-half shipments reaching $2.3 billion, an increase of 13.6%, accounting for more than 40% of the industry's total export value.
Pangasius continued to rank as the sector's second-largest export. Exports reached $209.1 million in June, up 7.7%, lifting the six-month total to $1.1 billion, a 12.1% increase that represented 19.4% of overall seafood exports.
China and Hong Kong (China) remained the industry's fastest-growing markets. Exports to the two markets rose 32.2% year-on-year to $256.6 million in June. During the first six months, shipments climbed 37.9% to $1.5 billion, accounting for nearly 26% of Vietnam's seafood export revenue recorded in the first half of the year.
Exports to the US showed signs of recovery, with total export revenue of $897.9 million in the six-month period.
Meanwhile, seafood exports to Japan edged up 0.7% to $787.5 million in the first half of the year.
