Vietnam's seafood exports continued their upward trajectory in 2026, with export turnover reaching nearly $1.02 billion in July, up 4.8% year-on-year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
It marked another month that export turnover of the product surpassed the $1 billion threshold, reinforcing expectations that the industry will exceed its $12 billion export target this year.
As a result, seafood exports totaled nearly $6.78 billion during the first seven months of 2026, an increase of 11.5% compared with the same period last year.
Notably, shrimp remained Vietnam's largest seafood export, generating nearly $2.78 billion in the January–July period, up 12.6% and accounting for around 41% of the total seafood export value.
Meanwhile, pangasius exports totaled nearly $184 million in July, down 6.1% year-on-year. However, cumulative exports for the first seven months still climbed 8.8% to almost $1.3 billion. Tuna exports remained broadly stable at over $69 million in July, bringing seven-month exports to nearly $524 million, down 1.4%.
China and Hong Kong (China) remained Vietnam's largest seafood markets, importing more than $267 million worth of seafood in July, up 24.7%. Combined import value from the two markets reached nearly $1.74 billion during the first seven months, representing a robust 34.5% increase.
